Testimonials

It goes without saying that if you work in the world of school counseling or leadership, you know Julia Taylor and how much of rockstar she is. Julia’s ability to take a crowd and move their emotion is second to none. She can take an audience mixed full of school counselors, administrators, students, parents and professionals from differing backgrounds and inspire them to be better versions of themselves, making a change for the better. I have seen and heard Julia speak on more occasions than I can count, and the common theme is always her passion, her enthusiasm for speaking real, blunt truths. These truths are powerful messages about the realization of our society and why we can’t wait another day to make change.

Each and every time I listen to Julia I learn something new and it’s not just a fact about our world or today’s society, I learn something about myself. I walk out of her presentations asking myself, how can I be a better version of myself, how can I leave a lasting impact on those around me.

Julia is a “change-leader” in our world, she takes the knowledge and experience she has acquired and puts it to use, inspiring change in all of us. She has been an invaluable resource to me, not only motivating me to be a better high school counselor but an improved citizen in today’s ever-changing world.

Julia V. Taylor is a phenomenal resource!  The topics she presents on are relevant to everyone, but especially educators of all ages and gender.  Her presentations are both inspiring and practical.  She shares what is current and real in the world of girls and young women. She also gives examples of  interventions and resources to use that are helpful and doable for everyone.

Because of Julia's influence, we started a Women's Leadership Group at our high school.  Using resources from her books and presentations, we trained the girls and raised their awareness of issues such as body image, self-esteem, and relational aggression. We also taught them ways to deal with these matters in positive ways.  We do several different activities throughout the year.  The highlight is when we go to our junior highs and meet with the 8th and 9th-grade girls.  The activities and discussion facilitated and role modeled by the high school leaders makes a tremendous impact on the younger girls.  Our data has shown that the 8th/9th-grade girls have an increase in self-respect and a better awareness of relational awareness and how to deal with it.  High school girls have also reported a decrease in "fat talk".

Julia's  presentations are life changing.  The message is very deliberate, and her delivery is engaging and thought provoking. Her books and website are some of the best resources I have used as a school counselor.  Any resource she recommends is in my library. Julia is remarkable. Her advocacy for girls and young women is just outstanding.

Julia Taylor is the kind of presenter that you could listen to over and over again. Julia’s message on body image and media literacy is phenomenal. Her information is practical, relevant, and current. I heard Julia speak at ASCA in Minneapolis and then again four months later at the MSCA pre-conference. The presentation was different and she had inserted new, current video clips into her presentation.  I have been an elementary school counselor for nine years and had always had the mindset that body image was a middle school and high school problem and that I didn’t need to spend my valuable time addressing it. Julia has challenged this belief in me and has shown me that elementary school is a very critical and perfect time to teach children about body image and media literacy. The earlier we can start shaping children’s minds about loving and valuing their bodies, the better off we are.

Julia has also challenged me as a parent. I have a teenage son, a tween son, and a toddler daughter. She really forced me to think about myself as a parent and what things I say about myself and others in front of my children. What I say shapes what they believe about themselves and about others.

Julia is an amazing person and I would recommend her presentations to anyone. Julia has a great sense of humor, she is passionate about her beliefs, and she is genuine and kind. I would highly recommend her as a presenter to anyone.

Julia did a workshop with our student services staff on relational aggression and body image. It was so well received, the staff requested that we bring her back for more. Not only did we bring her back for another workshop, we purchased a copy of the GIRLS curriculum for every school. Most of my schools are doing GIRLS groups and continuously singing the praises of the positive effects. A couple of principals even made positive comments in an administrators meeting.   The information Julia shared has truly had a significant positive impact in our schools. I never get tired of hearing examples of the difference implementing her strategies has made in our schools.

Julia was a pleasure to work with in every way. She delivered quality information in a fast paced and engaging way. Everyone left her sessions with positive things to say about her, the information she shared, and the way she shared it. As a practicing school counselor Julia has the advantage of sharing her real experiences in the context of best practices in critical areas that affect our students and their lives today. Her materials were first rate and I would recommend her highly to school counselors, districts, or school counseling organizations who are looking for someone who can engage them in up-to-date and highly professional activities.

Words are not enough to say what a great speaker Julia Taylor is. The first time I ever heard her, I knew I would want to hear her again and again. I have attended at least 4 of her trainings/workshops and she never ceases to amaze me. She is always updating and adding more "stuff" dealing with the realities of adolescence. I am a middle school counselor as well and deal with adolescents on a daily basis. Her "down to earth" presentations are phenomenal. I always receive information that I can go back to my school and apply the next day. I have conducted girl groups that center around the books, Salvaging Sisterhood and GIRLS. The girls loved the activities and wanted to meet daily (which we all know is impossible). I hope to attend more trainings in the future--- because I know that Julia is speaking from the HEART.
