Julia is one of the few presenters that I have seen in the last three years that has held my attention and delivered relevant information that I can use. It is rare that I do not slip out of a workshop because I am bored to tears or embarrassed for the presenter. Julia's presentation offers useful information and strategies that I can actually use on the job. Also, she has actually used the techniques herself, and discusses what worked and didn't work, which makes it real. Julia is entertaining, witty, and sharp; she holds people's attention with seemingly little effort. I am also impressed that she is willing to share her
curriculum with others. I find that remarkable. I also appreciated that she made her handouts available on the web if we wanted them, instead of printing out things we may not need. That is a great technique.

Julia did a workshop with our student services staff on relational aggression and body image. It was so well received, the staff requested that we bring her back for more. Not only did we bring her back for another workshop, we purchased a copy of the GIRLS curriculum for every school. Most of my schools are doing GIRLS groups and continuously singing the praises of the positive effects. A couple of principals even made positive comments in an administrators meeting.   The information Julia shared has truly had a significant positive impact in our schools. I never get tired of hearing examples of the difference implementing her strategies has made in our schools.

Julia was a pleasure to work with in every way. She delivered quality information in a fast paced and engaging way. Everyone left her sessions with positive things to say about her, the information she shared, and the way she shared it. As a practicing school counselor Julia has the advantage of sharing her real experiences in the context of best practices in critical areas that affect our students and their lives today. Her materials were first rate and I would recommend her highly to school counselors, districts, or school counseling organizations who are looking for someone who can engage them in up-to-date and highly professional activities.

Words are not enough to say what a great speaker Julia Taylor is. The first time I ever heard her, I knew I would want to hear her again and again. I have attended at least 4 of her trainings/workshops and she never ceases to amaze me. She is always updating and adding more "stuff" dealing with the realities of adolescence. I am a middle school counselor as well and deal with adolescents on a daily basis. Her "down to earth" presentations are phenomenal. I always receive information that I can go back to my school and apply the next day. I have conducted girl groups that center around the books, Salvaging Sisterhood and GIRLS. The girls loved the activities and wanted to meet daily (which we all know is impossible). I hope to attend more trainings in the future--- because I know that Julia is speaking from the HEART.

As a middle school counselor herself, Julia Taylor has a brilliant understanding of girls and their issues. Her approach is a practical one, offering girls positive and effective strategies about how to be a good friend and how to maintain healthy friendships. Fortunately she departs from the tired mantra that girls are mean, but instead helps them learn how to deal with the social challenges that come with growing up. Ms. Taylor is also a tremendous resource for parents. With great insight and humor, she helps them establish a wholesome perspective on common girl issues and provides proven ways to support their daughters without smothering them.

Julia presented a superb full day workshop this past November on Growing Up Girl in Today’s Crazy World for me. We had a full house, with a great mix of child mental health professionals, such as psychologists, social workers, family therapists, school personnel, case managers, counselors and many others. She received outstanding evaluations from all the participants for her practical and useful information on working with girls and their special issues, including relational aggression. Julia was also great to work with behind the scenes, providing handout material and information. We’d love to have her back down east again soon!

I have a friend who lives in Florida. We went to high school together about 10 years ago. She emailed me today telling me about an amazing "workshop" you gave down that way. She was absolutely raving about it. They have two little girls (4 and 2) and she was talking about how helpful your workshop was to them. Just thought I'd pass that along. It's always nice to know when you are touching other people's lives even all the way down in Florida.

I attended your workshop "Growing Up Girl in Today's Crazy World" at Eastern AHEC in Greenville, back in November. I absolutely loved your seminar and walked away with a wealth of knowledge. It was by far the most enjoyable seminar I attended in 2007. I work for Eastern Carolina Case Management in Greenville. We are going to use your curriculum G.I.R.L.S. grades 6-12, to jump start our program. I hope you visit this area again, as I will certainly bring along more colleagues this time to hear you speak. I admire all of your hard work and from one human services provider to another, I greatly appreciate what you are doing for young girls.

                  Sincerely,

                  Hello Julia-
I attended your Growing Up Girl presentation in Greenville and loved it. I was very interested in starting up some girls groups here at camp. After your presentation I was completely pumped and excited and now that the New Year is here I am ready to go. I am also interested in taking on your line of study and getting out in the community assisting schools and such. Thank you for your time.

Thank you, Julia, for coming to our district to speak concerning some of the issues girls face in an academic setting. Many times parents and educators view bullying as a male issue, but again and again we hear about how cruel girls can be to each other. Your session provided insight on recognizing the problems that our girls face in a scholastic environment and strategies for educators and counselors on how to help girls work through these problems. Our teachers, administrators and counselors found your session to be informative and interesting; thank you for coming here to present!

Just wanted to email you to let you know that we (the two of us here in my building) were able to present the topic of relational aggression last week at our monthly counselors meeting. I emailed our director at she immediately replied to have us present at the next meeting -and so we did. Our administrative staff has also requested that we prepare to present to the staff as well for in-house professional development and a parent workshop! Isn’t that wonderful? I am so excited!! And I wanted to just email to thank you for all the hard work you have already put into this topic that has provided the foundation needed for us to further exploring and working with the topic as it applies in our building/district! Your presentation was so thorough and comprehensive that I was able to borrow from it (giving you credit of course) and still make it our own. I also shared your website with the counselors here as another excellent resource.

                  Thanks again,

                  Ms. Taylor:
I wanted to thank you for the work you have done in putting together the Salvaging Sisterhood curriculum. We used your curriculum in our high school last year, and found it to be fun, effective, and engaging with our high school students. Thank you again for developing this amazing, easy-to-use curriculum! I am hoping very much to meet you at the ASCA conference in Denver!

                  Sincerely,
                  Marnie Grimmell

The Salvaging Sisterhood program was a huge success! I really liked how it encouraged the girls to explore their own personal identities separate from their social group. It helped them build confidence in themselves, which is such an important part of development. I would recommend this program to counselors working with young ladies at all stages of social development.

                  Julia,
I attended your presentation (sitting on the floor due to its popularity) on Salvaging Sisterhood at the recent ASCA conference and while I found a brief moment on the Exhibition Floor afterwards to offer you praise for the research you’ve done and your delivery of the material, I wanted to take another moment to say nice job. I hope that you continue to share what you have learned to those of us who are still recognizing relational aggression as an issue to be understood. As a male counselor working in a sea of female secondary students I found your insights very valuable and inspiring. I also appreciate that you are willing to share what you’ve learned through your website. Consider this another job well done and thanks for your hard work.
